Marine Conservation on Koh Tao
Koh Tao attracts divers from around the world and is considered to be one of the best scuba diver training locations in the world.
This brings with it added responsibility, and is a very good reason to have effective measures in place to protect the marine environment from damage and reduce the effect of human impacts.
Our marine conservation courses are designed to educate our students and increase awareness of the delicate marine ecosystems in the ocean around Koh Tao.

Marine Conservation courses you can do on Koh Tao
Koh Tao is a hub for marine conservation efforts and we offer various courses and internships so you can get involved and contribute as a citizen scientist.
Simply come along to our office and ask if we have any land based activities scheduled including beach cleans, dive against debris collections, microplastics surveys or fun beach conservation challenges.
Koh Tao is a fantastic location to dive into marine conservation through our PADI AWARE courses.
We offer a range of PADI marine conservation courses and through our partners we offer an extensive marine conservation program. Come and ask in the office what we have running.

A Community of Scuba Divers
We are a community of scuba divers and the ocean needs our help to protect and preserve the delicate ecosystems that we take for granted so much.
Our dive professional team ensure diver training is conducted in an environmentally friendly way and we educate our students about the importance of the marine environment and how to conduct themselves around marine life.
We encourage all our divers to consider taking a marine conservation specialty to learn about coral reefs and discover marine life you were unaware of or put a name to a fish or invertebrate.

Marine Conservation & Environmental Awareness
Recent coral bleaching events and climate change, emphasise that we should all be doing more to protect coral reefs and the marine environment.
There are a number of conservation programs on Koh Tao, and the DMCR (Dept of Marine & Coastal Resources) provide strict guidelines for planning and implementation of any new projects.
As one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations for scuba divers and snorkelers, Koh Tao also offers a range of educational and awareness courses to ensure human impacts are reduced.
Isla Tortuga Divers is at the forefront of conservation efforts through our partners and through our in-house training to ensure our staff and students conduct themselves with role model behaviour in the marine environment.

Facts about Marine Conservation
The oceans are the largest ecosystem on our planet and survival of all living species is either directly or indirectly dependent on a healthy ocean.
The world’s ocean’s produce over half the oxygen we breathe, and help to reduce the impact of climate change by absorbing CO2.
Coral reefs play a huge role in the survival of marine ecosystems as they are places of biodiversity, and an important provider of food and shelter for marine animal species.
The focus of our marine conservation courses and internships is to educate and increase awareness of the many threats and damage caused by human impacts, and look at solutions to restore healthy ecosystems.

Protecting Marine Ecosystems
Our marine conservation team work alongside our local communities and tourists on solutions to the threats marine ecosystems face, and to help to prevent further damage from occurring.
As a passionate and dedicated community of ocean ambassadors, marine conservation is a part of our daily lifestyle, and through our conservation courses and scuba diving internships, we want to pass our passion onto you.
